About

The British Horse Council is Community Interest Company (CIC) formed in 2018 to combine the work of the British Horse Industry Confederation and the Equine Sector Council for Health & Welfare. We engage with ministers and government officials to find collaborative solutions to challenging matters including equine identification, abandoned horses and ponies, disease surveillance and other areas affecting the UK’s horse industry. We host two stakeholder meetings each year which provide a forum for discussing the key issues affecting the UK’s equine sector.

Aim

The British Horse Council provides the means for the UK’s equine stakeholders to speak with one voice.

We recognise that, on some issues, there are different opinions across the sector. Where consensus doesn’t exist, we focus on finding common ground and support stakeholders who wish to make their own points constructively.

Directors

Our Directors are: David Mountford (Chair), Jeanette Allen, Jim Eyre, James Hick, Roly Owers, Jan Rogers, Claire Sheppard and Claire Williams.
